14. Please describe your reactions/ideas to the following quote: "He does not possess wealth, it possesses him."

Absurd. Man has the power to create his own wealth and have complete control of it. there is a thing called greed which has the ability to make one loose focus of there true intentions. Wealth may cause greed which may lead to the obssesion about ones wealth. However I doubt that it is wealth that blurs ones vision but the lifestyle that comes with wealth, a life with happiness, entertainment, prosper, and power. Loosing this might cause fear to an individual, casuing them to seem possesive over there wealth, so much that it may seem that weakth is the doing the possesing.

13. Write a letter to your future college roommate introducing yourself and your background.

Hello fellow roommate, my name is Eduardo F Quinones I am a chicano that was born Chula Vista but raised in the border line of Mexico. I studied in the U.S while living in Meixco for a major part of my life this not only helped me learn a new language but also helped improve my native language. In elementry I had the oppurtunity to socialize with various types of cultures, allowing me to broaden my scope of the world. When I graduated elementry I headed closer to the border for midle school, here i was surrounded with purely my culture and I have to say that I was uninterested. Im currently in highschool in a rigorous program known as International Baccalaureate where were pushed to out limit in order to obtain a better future.
7. If you could introduce one new idea or material thing to a primitive culture, what would it be?

Communism, would be the idea that I would choose to introduce to an ancient culture, since with communsim there shouldnt be any social classes, being able to have common ownership of every essential part of society. The poeple should all be equall, this would help avoid problems dealing with status's or higher power. having the idea of of communism they would be able to spread the idea and help other societies in need
2. How does competition function in our society? To what extent is it healthy/unhealthy? Offer some real world examples taken from your life, community, culture, state, nation, or world.

Competition being inevitable, is an essential part of our society. Its what drives individuals to strive, to be more than what they could possibly imagine. Not only does it help the individual it also helps society as a whole, competitors almost being like stepping stones, are what helps society become larger and evolve. There are many levels of competition in which true potential is discovered since competition has the ability to draw out what one never knew was there. The only problem with competition is that sometimes the the abilities it exposes are not always pleasant. Competition having the aptitude put some ahead of others can occasionally crush some. It may be considered unhealthy if at a point in competition you prevent others from striving, for example in monopolies in the history of the U.S were looked down upon since it may hinder others from conpiring to be more.
5. If you had the responsibility to decide where $1 million should be spent to improve conditions somewhere in the world, what project(s) would you choose? Why?
$1 million would be used to construct a small building for the needy, for those who have to sleep on park benches through cold nights. Since a million dollars isnt much I would have to ask for supporters in the process of contructing the homeless shelter. This shelter would consist of individual heated bedrooms a restroom for every four rooms. In order to cut cost we will be asking the homeless to help build the shelter, and food will be provided throughout the day. This way the homeless can appreciate the shelter and bond as a community. I would build a shelter since there happens to be homeless people living all around the world, living in the streets eating out of trashcans, meding for themselves, most suffering from some sort of mental disorder. Having been rejected by society, I think its time the homeless recieved some care from those with a little extra.
3. How have you taken something that you have learned in the classroom and integrated it into your nonacademic life?

"Do not procrastinate" words of the Mr. Manroe my biology teacher from Castle Park High. At the begining of  my IB course Mr. Manroe gave us these words of advice, telling us that if we did our lives would become harder than necessary. I took these words of advice and introduced them into my daily life at times. When theres work to do I choose not to put it aside for later, and do in the momment it arises. If I were to choose to ignore the issue it would always comes back, and it would most of the time the subject would repesent itself in a prodigious way. This is because the issue isnt alone it comes with extra entities that could have been avoided if the issue was dealt with beforehand.

12. Your life is a movie. Describe the first 15 minutes

Waking up and the first thing I see is the cieling, wishing that I could just go back to sleep and that time would stop just for me. I get up and I begin to wonder what kind of day i'll have, trying not to think of it to much while I look into my closet to decide what to wear. While looking I can only think about past mistakes, question what life would be like if I would have made different choices. Although the past is so pleasent to think about, I cant live in it. I decide what to wear set it on the bed and head towards the bathroom. This is where I take out the flat iron for your hair, look at it, and I can only seem to think about an image of her smile, a smile that seems to fade a little more each day. Getting ready for school is done with so I walk out the house without breakfast trying not to wake anyone. The cold air hits me and I shiver a little, still I shake it off and keep walking to the bus stop. While waiting for the bus I think of how much I hate depending on a bus to take me around where i need to go. The bus arrives and opens its doors allowing me to enter its warm interior. Its engine begins to rev while it begins to take me towards what might be a fantastic day.
